Product Overview

The vertical brush strip for server racks forms a flexible cable-passage section along the upright frame of a server rack or IT enclosure. Cables can be routed through the nylon filaments from the side or rear without requiring a permanently open gap in the enclosure.

The brush assembly combines dense black nylon bristles with a specially angled aluminum mounting profile. The profile positions the brush face toward the cable path and provides a rigid surface for vertical installation. Its anodized finish improves resistance to handling marks and corrosion while maintaining a clean metallic appearance inside the rack.

The nylon filament used for this product has documented V0 flame-retardant performance, making it suitable for projects that specify flame-retardant cable-management components. The standard brush size is 950 × 95 mm, while the profile dimensions, overall length and bristle coverage can be adjusted for different enclosure layouts. Versions can also be produced for selected VX IT configurations after dimensional confirmation.

Product Features

  • Angled Aluminum Mounting Profile – The formed profile positions the brush face toward the cable-routing area and provides a mounting surface for installation along the vertical enclosure frame.
  • V0 Flame-Retardant Nylon Bristles – The black nylon filament has documented V0 flame-retardant performance for projects requiring flame-retardant materials inside network and data center enclosures.
  • Flexible Cable Passage – Cables can pass between the bristles at different heights without requiring fixed openings for every cable bundle.
  • Reduced Open Space Around Cables – After the cables pass through, the surrounding filaments return toward their original position and help cover the unused area of the cable-entry opening.
  • 950 × 95 mm Standard Size – The standard configuration provides a long vertical brushing area for server rack and IT enclosure installations.
  • Anodized Profile Surface – The anodized aluminum surface provides a consistent finish and additional protection against corrosion and handling wear.
  • Custom Enclosure Fit – Overall length, profile geometry, bristle projection and mounting-hole positions can be produced according to an enclosure drawing or an existing sample.
  • Selected VX IT Configurations – Versions can be produced for selected VX IT installations after the profile, mounting position and required dimensions have been confirmed.

Vertical Cable Routing Applications

A vertical brush strip creates a continuous cable-routing zone along the height of a server rack. Cable bundles can enter or leave the enclosure at the required level instead of being restricted to a small number of fixed entry points. For horizontal cable openings that require a snap-fit rigid plastic profile, see our Rigid Plastic Clip-On Strip Brush for Cable Pass-Throughs.

Side Cable Entry

When installed beside the mounting frame, the brush allows power, network or fibre cables to pass into the rack from a side cable channel. The flexible filaments separate around each cable bundle and cover much of the remaining opening.

Rear-to-Side Cable Routing

Cables routed from the rear of the enclosure can pass through the brush strip before being connected to equipment at different rack heights. This helps avoid routing every cable through a single opening at the top or bottom of the cabinet.

Equipment Changes and Additional Cabling

The continuous brush face allows cable positions to be changed when equipment is added, removed or relocated. New cables can pass through another section of the strip without cutting a new entry hole or replacing a fixed panel.

Data Centers and Network Rooms

The product can be used in data center racks, network cabinets, server rooms and other IT enclosures that require flexible vertical cable entry. It helps organize cable passage and reduce exposed open space, but it should not be treated as an airtight, watertight or fire-rated enclosure seal.

Angled Profile and Installation Orientation

The aluminum carrier is formed with an angled cross-section rather than a simple flat mounting flange. This geometry allows the mounting surface and brush face to follow different planes, positioning the nylon filaments toward the cable opening while the profile is secured to the enclosure frame.

Profile Direction

The angled profile must be oriented so that the bristles extend toward the intended cable path. Reversing the profile may change the available passage width or cause the brush face to interfere with adjacent rack components.

Bristle Contact

Opposing brush strips may be installed so that their filament tips meet or overlap slightly around the cables. The required contact depends on the opening width, cable bundle diameter and available mounting space. Excessive overlap can make cable insertion unnecessarily difficult.

Mounting Compatibility

The standard 950 × 95 mm size alone does not confirm compatibility with every server rack. The profile cross-section, fixing points, installation direction and clearance from rails or cable-management components should also be checked before production.

For selected VX IT configurations, a matching version can be produced after the original profile dimensions and mounting arrangement have been confirmed. A drawing, clear cross-section photograph or physical sample is recommended when the brush is intended as a replacement part.

How to Specify Your Vertical Brush Strip

To confirm that the brush strip fits the enclosure and provides the required cable passage, please provide the following information when requesting a quotation:

  1. Rack or Enclosure Model – State the manufacturer, product series and enclosure height where available. For a VX IT application, include the exact cabinet configuration rather than only the series name.
  2. Required Overall Length – Confirm whether the standard 950 mm length is suitable or provide the required finished length.
  3. Overall Brush Width – Specify the required total width of the assembled product, including the aluminum profile and exposed nylon bristles.
  4. Profile Cross-Section – Provide the dimensions and angle of the aluminum profile. A cross-section drawing or end-view photograph with marked measurements is particularly useful.
  5. Bristle Projection – Measure from the edge of the aluminum profile to the tips of the nylon filaments.
  6. Installation Direction – Indicate whether the brush will be mounted on the left side, right side, rear section or another vertical position within the enclosure.
  7. Single or Opposing Strips – Confirm whether one brush covers the opening or whether two brush strips face each other around the cable bundles.
  8. Mounting Details – Provide the number, diameter and spacing of fixing holes, or identify any brackets and fasteners used with the existing profile.
  9. Flame-Retardant Requirement – State the required flame-retardant standard so that the corresponding nylon material documentation can be supplied.
  10. Order Quantity – Provide the required number of pieces and indicate whether all units use the same dimensions.

For replacement projects, an original sample is the most reliable reference. If a sample cannot be provided, please send a dimensioned drawing together with photographs showing the installation position and profile orientation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a vertical brush strip used for in a server rack?

It creates a flexible passage for routing cables along the vertical frame of a server rack or IT enclosure. Cables can pass through the nylon filaments at different heights while the bristles cover much of the unused opening.

Does the nylon filament have a V0 flame-retardant rating?

Yes. The nylon filament used for this product has documented V0 flame-retardant performance. The applicable material documentation can be provided when the required standard is confirmed with the order.

Is the 950 × 95 mm size compatible with every server rack?

No. The standard size is suitable for certain enclosure layouts, but rack compatibility also depends on the angled profile cross-section, fixing points, installation direction and available clearance.

Can this brush strip be produced for VX IT enclosures?

It can be produced for selected VX IT configurations after dimensional confirmation. Please provide the exact enclosure configuration, mounting details and original profile dimensions before ordering.

Should one brush strip or two opposing strips be installed?

This depends on the width and layout of the cable opening. One strip may be sufficient for a narrow opening, while two opposing strips can provide flexible coverage from both sides around larger cable bundles.

Can cables be added after the brush strip is installed?

Yes. Additional cables can be pushed through another section of the nylon bristles without cutting a new opening. Cable positions can also be changed when rack equipment is rearranged.

Does the brush strip provide an airtight or watertight seal?

No. The bristles help cover unused space around cable bundles and can reduce the direct passage of dust and airflow, but the product is not an airtight, watertight or certified fire-stop seal.

Can the aluminum profile and brush dimensions be customized?

Yes. The overall length, brush width, bristle projection, profile geometry and mounting details can be manufactured according to a drawing or approved sample.
