Product Overview
This aluminum brush grommet strip is designed for cable pass-through openings in rack cabinets, electrical enclosures and office furniture. It combines nylon bristles, a rigid PVC brush body and an aluminum mounting holder. The bristles close around routed cables to cover the remaining opening while allowing cables to be added, removed or repositioned.
During production, nylon filament tufts are mechanically fixed into the rigid PVC base to form a staple-set lath brush. The completed brush strip is then inserted into the channel of the aluminum holder. This construction keeps the brush straight and provides a mounting surface separate from the brush body.
The aluminum holder incorporates slotted mounting holes for screw installation. These slots allow limited vertical adjustment before the fasteners are tightened. Overall length and bristle trim height can be produced according to the cable opening or grommet dimensions.

Product Features
- Three-Part Construction: The product consists of nylon bristles, a rigid PVC brush body and an aluminum mounting holder. The PVC lath brush slides into the holder channel as a separate component.
- Flame-Retardant Nylon Bristles: Nylon filament with a UL 94 V-0 flammability rating is available for electrical enclosures, server racks and other installations requiring flame-retardant brush material.
- Slotted Mounting Holes: Elongated holes in the aluminum holder accommodate screw installation and allow limited vertical position adjustment before tightening.
- Rigid Aluminum Holder: The metal holder keeps the brush straight across the cable opening and provides a fixed mounting flange.
- Custom Length and Bristle Height: Overall length and bristle trim height can be produced according to the dimensions of the grommet, cabinet opening or desk cutout.
- Cable Pass-Through Barrier: The bristles separate around cables and cover unused space without requiring a fixed opening for each individual cable.

Brush Grommet Strip Installation and Applications
Before ordering a brush grommet strip, measure the overall length and width of the cable opening, the required bristle overlap and the available screw-mounting area.
Position the aluminum holder over the edge of the opening and secure it through the slotted mounting holes. Before fully tightening the screws, the holder can be moved slightly in the vertical direction to adjust how far the bristles extend across the opening. Cables pass directly through the nylon filaments, which close around the cable bundles and cover unused space.
Typical installation locations include:
- Rear cable entries in server and network cabinets
- Cable openings in electrical equipment enclosures
- Desk grommets and office workstation cutouts
- Openings behind computers and communication equipment
- Custom cable entry boxes

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a brush grommet strip used for?
It is installed over a cable opening to guide cables through nylon bristles while covering unused space around the cable bundle. Common locations include rack cabinets, electrical enclosures, cable entry boxes and office desks.
How is this product different from a flexible cable entry brush?
This product uses a rigid PVC staple-set brush inserted into an aluminum holder. A flexible cable entry brush uses a bendable rubber profile that clips directly onto a panel edge. The aluminum-holder version is intended for straight openings with screw-mounting space. For a flexible clip-on option, see our cable entry brush for server racks.
What does the aluminum holder do?
The holder supports the rigid PVC brush strip and provides a flange for mounting it over the cable opening. Its slotted holes allow limited position adjustment before the screws are tightened.
Can the brush length and bristle height be customized?
Yes. Overall length and bristle trim height can be produced according to the opening dimensions. Please provide the opening size, required brush coverage and mounting-hole requirements when requesting a quotation.
Are flame-retardant bristles available?
Yes. Nylon bristles with a UL 94 V-0 flammability rating are available for applications that specify flame-retardant brush material. The required material rating should be confirmed when ordering.
What dimensions should be measured before ordering?
Measure the opening length and width, the available mounting area, the required bristle overlap and the preferred mounting-hole positions. A drawing or existing sample can also be provided for confirmation.
